Together with our consortium partners, this week, MACODA is on the ground orienting project stakeholders in the Creating Work Opportunities in Agriculture for Youth with Disabilities and Refugees in Malawi project on the Persons with Disabilities Act of 2024.
In the project, we are working to promote economic empowerment and decent work for 21,000 young women and men, specifically targeting 16,000 youth with disabilities and 4,000 refugees across 15 districts in five (5) Agricultural Development Divisions (ADDs) namely Lilongwe, Kasungu, Machinga, Salima and Mzuzu. By tapping into the potential of value chains like poultry, beekeeping, horticulture, and crop production, we aim to create 16,000 sustainable work opportunities by August 2028.
The Persons with Disabilities Act orientation sessions being held in these districts will help ensure that the project stakeholders are fully aligned with the Persons with Disabilities Act of 2024, paving the way for a more inclusive agricultural sector.
